WCAG 2.1 AA Compliance

Laughing Monk Cafe is committed to ensuring our website is accessible to all visitors. We follow WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines and continuously work to improve the experience for people with disabilities.

Accessibility Features

  • Semantic HTML structure (nav, main, header, footer, headings) throughout
  • Descriptive alt text on all images
  • Color contrast ratio of 4.5:1 minimum for all text
  • Full keyboard navigation support (Tab, Enter, Arrow keys)
  • Visible focus indicators on all interactive elements
  • Skip to main content link on every page
  • ARIA attributes on dropdown menus (role, aria-expanded, aria-haspopup)
  • ARIA labels on all icon-only buttons
  • Every form input has a connected label element
  • Form error messages describe the issue and how to fix it
  • External links include destination and new-tab notice in aria-label
  • lang="en" on HTML element
  • No animations flashing more than 3 times per second
  • All touch targets are minimum 44×44 pixels
  • Content remains usable when zoomed to 200%

Ongoing Commitment

We use automated tools (axe DevTools, Lighthouse) on every content update to catch accessibility issues. We test all pages with keyboard-only navigation and VoiceOver screen reader. We undergo annual professional WCAG 2.1 AA audits by Accessible.org.
