Laughing Monk Cafe Mission Hill hosts birthdays, corporate dinners, omakase counter takeovers, and intimate evenings — built around our Thai kitchen, sushi counter, and live-music venue.

Available for groups of up to 34 guests seated. Exclusive full-restaurant buyouts available Friday and Saturday evenings; semi-private groups welcome off-peak.

Capacity expands to 80 guestsin August 2026 with our Mission Hill expansion. Larger parties booking for late summer or fall — let us know and we’ll hold a date.

Pricing is based on the day and time of your event. All rates are per booking, not per person. A refundable deposit is required to confirm your reservation.

Full exclusive use of our Mission Hill dining room — your guests have the entire restaurant to themselves.

  • A 20% service charge applies to all events (in lieu of gratuity).
  • Holiday and special-event nights (NYE, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, etc.) priced separately.
  • If your group’s actual food & beverage spend exceeds the minimum, you only pay what you order.

Common Questions

How far in advance should I book?
We recommend at least 2–3 weeks for weekday events and 4–6 weeks for peak Friday/Saturday evenings. Popular dates fill quickly.
Is there a minimum spend?
Yes — food-and-beverage minimums range from $2,500 (off-peak) to $5,500 (Saturday peak). No separate room fee. Holiday and special-event nights priced separately. A 20% service charge is added to all events.
Can I bring my own cake or decorations?
Yes. Outside cakes are welcome with a cake-cutting fee. Decorations are allowed — nothing that requires drilling or permanent fixing.
Is the room soundproofed from the main dining area?
The private dining section is semi-partitioned. For fully private events we can close off the space — subject to capacity and date.
Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Absolutely. Let us know your guests' needs when you enquire and our chef will build options around them.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellations made 7+ days before the event receive a full refund of the room deposit. Inside 7 days the deposit is non-refundable. Food minimums are billed on actual spend.
